Curriculum
Terms and credits
- The program will be administered over 4 terms, in line with the program structure prevalent for the regular MBA program.
- During each term there would be 80 class room contact hours. Thus the total class room hours available would be for 320 hours.
- At 8 hours of class room contact hours per week, the program per term would be covered in 10 weeks.
- 10 class room contact hours would enable a student to earn 1 credit. Thus the DBLS program would be comprising of 8 functional/skill area with each functional / skill area requiring 4 credits.
- The total number of competencies / skill areas for the 'Diploma in Business & Life Skills ( DBLS)' is recommended at 8 and the total credits would be 32.
- Each term would have 8 credits.
Evaluation methodology
Students would be evaluated on each competency / skill area as follows:
- Continuous evaluation (class room participation) – 80%
- Quizzes and other short term projects / assignments – 20%
Grading system
- We would have a relative grading system as against the absolute marks system. The reason being the student must be made aware that on the job, one is assessed on basis of relative performance.
-
Absolute scales do not exist on the job.
For example, a sales executive might achieve 100% of his given targets. However if the other team members achieve 120% or more, the person concerned might not be eligible for incentives or could earn a great deal less, as when compared to the others.
We recommend a 7 grade point system as detailed below:
| A+ |
7 points |
| A |
6 points |
| B+ |
5 points |
| B |
4 points |
| C |
3 points |
| D |
2 points |
| U |
0 points (U is for unsatisfactory) |
If a student gets a U he / she must take a 'repeat' exam. In the repeat exam the student must score at least a C, failing which it is suggested that the student would need to repeat the entire term.
Award of the DIPLOMA IN BUSINESS & LIFE SKILLS
In order to be eligible for the award of the DIPLOMA IN BUSINESS & LIFE SKILLS,
the student must have a cumulative grade point average of 4 and above.
